Is There Self-Healing?

Is self-healing for real? You bet!

Even in medical schools, students are taught that the human body is capable of self-healing. Then, why is it that many people think that self-healing is a myth? The answer is simple: Many of us have given up on ourselves. We have become so reliant on doctors, medications, and procedures that our bodies no longer produce the substances that promote self-healing. Use it or lose it.

Self-healing is total health. That is, the body can heal itself only when it is in an optimum environment. Self-healing is mind healing; in other words, it begins with the mind. To be in total health, you must make deliberate health choices with specific goals. You have to make an effort to stay healthy and productive. Life is as you intend it to be. So, make a list of what you really want in your life, and then prioritize them accordingly. Next, set your goal -- one goal at a time, and use your mind power to achieve it one by one. It is all in the mind: if you think and believe you can heal yourself, you will be able to do just that.

Mind healing is understanding the karma of cause and effect: you reap what you sow. To make the right and healthful choices in life, you need discipline, which monitors your internal order. Discipline is your willingness to be taught self-control. Without discipline, there will be internal chaos, which breeds unhappiness, not joy. Inner joy, which cherishes and nourishes self-healing, is an awareness that you are healthy in body, mind, and relationships. Inner joy enables you to allow events, people, and circumstances to teach you the lessons of life, and learn from them, instead of being encumbered by them.

Self-healing is essentially living a life of balance. Self-healing is holistic healing of the body, the mind, and the spirit. To be in total health, you must be a total being. A total being means you not only believe but also cherish hope in self-healing and total health, thereby instrumental in releasing your disappointments, worries, and self-destructive thoughts to hope.

Stress is not only one of the contributors to disease and disharmony, but also a stumbling block to recovery and rejuvenation from an illness. Laughter and good hummor release endorphine, a brain chemical that causes you to relax. Learning through developing a healthful sense of humor and practicing daily is instrumental in initiating and accelerating the self-healing process.

To sum up, self-healing is an attitude of the mind towards self and healing. A positive attitude is one of the greatest human assets. Develop a positive, joyful, and grateful attitude under any circumstance, and you will understand that self-healing is for real.
